Experimental Identification of Cohesive Zone Models from Thermomechanical Imaging Techniques

چکیده
In recent years, cohesive zone models (CZMs) have been developed and widely used in numerical simulations to account for crack initiation and propagation in different materials and structures. This study is focused on the modeling of the elastoplastic damageable behaviour of ductile materials. The damage is associated with a cohesive behaviour of the interface between the purely elastoplastic solid elements. The recent developments in imaging techniques allow reaching local measurement fields (e.g. displacement, strain, strain rate, temperature,...). Under certain assumptions, these measurements allow us to get the distributions of local thermomechanical fields. These distributions can be used to identify the shape and the parameters of the CZM, and then ensure the thermomechanical consistency of this identified model.

In this article, low velocity impact behavior of fiber metal laminate (FML) composite plates is investigated under three different impact energies (12.7 J, 16.3 J and 24.2 J). Here, three modeling techniques are used. In one of the models the inter-laminar damage is neglected (model without delamination) and in other two models this damage is simulated using cohesive element and cohesive surfac...

Failure of adhesive bonded structures often occurs concurrent with the formation of a non-negligible fracture process zone in front of a macroscopic crack. For this reason, the analysis of damage and fracture is effectively carried out using the cohesive zone model (CZM). The crucial aspect of the CZM approach is the precise determination of the traction-separation relation. Yet it is usually d...

Crack propagation modeling in quasi-brittle materials such as concrete is essential for improving the reliability and load-bearing capacity assessment. Crack propagation explains many failure characteristics of concrete structures using the fracture mechanics approach. This approach could better explain the softening behavior of concrete structures. A great effort has been made in developing nu...

In this paper Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) concepts are applied in order to study mode I fracture in a pre-cracked bonded Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) specimen. A cohesive surface element is implemented in a Finite Element commercial code using intrinsic cohesive zone models: exponential, bilinear and trapezoidal traction-separation laws. The sensitivity of cohesive zone parameters in predicting t...

The present study set out to investigate the effect of teaching substitution as a kind of grammatical cohesion on the true identification of confusing substitution elements with cohesive or non-cohesive roles in different contexts and also the production of modal, reporting and conditional contexts through clausal substitution acquaintance. To this end, the following procedures were taken. Firs...
